Christopher Schwarzenegger Recovering From Collapsed Lung, Broken Bones
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver’s 13-year-old son Christopher Schwarzenegger was hospitalized after a serious surfing accident last weekend.
The former couple’s fourth child has been in ICU for several days, according to TMZ, with multiple broken bones and a collapsed lung.
He was reported to have been boogie boarding in Malibu Beach, Calif., on Sunday when the accident occurred. Maria was at the beach as well with her son during that time.
“Christopher has been in ICU since Sunday,” an anonymous source told People. “Maria has not left his side and is sleeping at the hospital.”
Arnold has also been a regular visitor at the hospital, despite his strained relationship with his soon-to-be ex-wife.
Maria had filed for divorce due to irreconcilable differences when she learned of her husband’s infidelity. Arnold had fathered a son with their Guatemalan housekeeper Mildred Patricia Baena, whom he had been supporting financially since the birth of their child, Joseph.
Earlier this week, Arnold filed a response to Maria’s divorce petition, unwilling to pay for spousal support and attorney fees, fueling further controversy.
A source told TMZ that in spite of the issues, the entire family has come together as a unit for Christopher.
Katherine Schwarzenegger, the couple’s eldest daughter, tweeted in regards to the accident, “Thank you guys for ur concern and prayers for my baby brother! He’s a tough little guy and getting better! Please keep praying for him! Xo.”
Christopher is expected to recover soon and will be OK, TMZ updated.
