'Marriage at First Sight: First Year' renewed for second season while fate of controversial show, 'Marriage at First Sight,' is still not clear.

It is more or less a given that in all probability, "Marriage at First Sight" is not going to be renewed for a third season. In its slot, the network showed the first season of "Seven Year Switch," which ended with a couple - Neal & Leah Carney - going for a divorce. Now, a spin-off of the flagship show titled "Marriage at First Sight: First Year" is going to get renewed for the second season.

The second season of "Marriage at First Sight: First Year" will feature two couples from the first season of "Marriage at First Sight" who are fan favorites. They are Jamie Otis, Doug Hehner, Cortney Hendrix and Jason Carrion.

Fans of this reality show are excited as most of them are interested to see where these two couples have reached in their marriages. Most also agree that Season 2 of "Marriage at First Sight" was a total disaster.

In the second season of "Married at First Sight", none of the couples stayed married. When one of the contestants, Ryan D. had "anger management and gambling problems", the experts on the show were accused of not having done a thorough background check of the contestants.

Then there was another warring couple, Sean Varricchio and Davina Kullar. Sean called Davina 'Satan' and Davina said that her husband was a different man in person and on camera, pretending to be what he is not. The other controversial pair, Jessica Castro and Ryan De Nino, had agreed to stay together. But it would seem their reunion was fraught with more tension. Apparently, Jessica caught Ryan cheating on her on Valentine's Day. Ryan got so angry that he threatened to 'kill her'. The producers of the show were concerned enough to give Jessica Castro protection. But this sparked outrage and negative feedback.

The show has not been renewed as yet for the third season but an even stranger show has been put up in its place – "Seven year Switch". Season 1 of "Seven Year Switch" has ended with a couple divorcing. Fans have not reacted kindly to this show, many voicing thoughts like "How can a marriage be fixed by switching partners? Instead, counselling should be offered to couples who are struggling to stay together."

The show that is renewed for the second season, "Marriage at First Sight: First Year," seems to be a positive one and the producers have brought back two couples who are liked by viewers. Hopefully, this show will garner positive feedback to keep it going.
