Mary Mary Singer's Erica Campbell's Solo Career Begins
Erica Campbell, one half of the gospel music duo Mary Mary, has officially gone solo with her rising radio hit "A Little More Jesus" which will go on sale June 25.
"A Little More Jesus," will appear on Campbell's upcoming album, with production credits going to her husband and longtime collaborator Warryn Campbell.
Mr. Campbell spoke about his wife's upcoming solo debut.
"The Erica Campbell project is long overdue," he said, according to elev8.com. "She has shined so brightly with Mary Mary over the last 10 years and now we get to hear her in a way that she has never been heard before … be prepared to take the amazing journey with her, I promise you'll enjoy the ride."
Although Campbell and her sister Tina are taking a break from their group Mary Mary, the latter did co-write songs for her sister's upcoming solo debut.
While Erica has admitted that she is going to release some music without her sister and group member Tina Atkins-Campbell, the singer previously told Essence magazine that the sisters plan to reconnect for future projects.
"I will say this, we are not breaking up," Erica told Essence. "But we're taking a break. I'm going to do some solo music. Tina's going to vacation and travel the world."
The Mary Mary member explained that as biological sisters and group mates, the pair has been constantly connected to one another. Now, the duo is ready to take a break from one another.
"We've been joined at the hip the last 12 years and I think in order for us both to be our healthiest selves, just as women, in the group, [we will] take some time to think and re-assess," Erica told Essence. "We've been going constantly year after year, baby after baby, tour after tour and now season after season on TV."
Erica also told Essence that both of them plan to reconnect with God during their time a part.
"We're singing about Christ, we're singing about God," Erica said. "I can't sing about God and I'm not taking the time to talk to God."
