MC Hammer's arrest was a case of racial profiling, according to the famous rapper from the 1990s.

MC Hammer was arrested recently by California police on suspicion of obstructing a police officer. However, the rapper has taken to social networking site Twitter to speak out against his arrest.

The rapper was arrested Thursday evening in the car park of a shopping centre in Dublin, northern California. He was later released on bail, but has since now said that he believes the arrest took place due to racial profiling.

Authorities have not yet stated specifically what sparked the incident, but simply described that the 50 year old rapper had been detained on suspicion of obstructing an officer in the performance of their duties and resisting an officer.

MC Hammer tweeted: "Chubby elvis looking dude was tapping on my car window, I rolled down the window and he said 'Are you on parole or probation?'."

According to reports MC Hammer said that he did hand his identification to the officer, but as he did so the officer reached into the car and grabbed him.

The rapper said, "It was comical to me until he pulled out his guns, blew his whistle and yelled for help (MallCop) !!! But make no mistake he's dangerous."

"I will now answer his question, contrary to his personal beliefs, all people of color are not on parole or probation fat boy !!!"

He added, "Only thing more dangerous than a scared man with a gun, is a scared man with an agenda, a gun and a badge."

Police meanwhile have said that the rapper had become argumentative and refused to answer the officer's simple questions.

Meanwhile, MC Hammer has said the incident was an "eye opener."
