Meagan Good's Christian Marriage Inspires 'Mistresses' Actress
Rochelle Aytes, the 37-year-old actress who stars in the new ABC drama "Mistresses," may act in a series centered around infidelity, but the thespian revealed that she is inspired by a Christian marriage in real life.
"(The) last inspiration I got was when Meagan Good said God told her DeVon Franklin was going to be her husband," Aytes told Sister 2 Sister magazine recently.
The actress stars in the series about infidelity and plays a character who becomes a widow and learns about her husband's extramarital affair after his death. However, Aytes is not the only person who has revealed that she is inspired by the union of Christian actress Good and her Hollywood executive and preacher husband Franklin.
Earlier this year, the 37-year-old reality television star Evelyn Lozada admitted that Good's marriage to Franklin impacted her life as well.
"I really look up to Meagan Good and her husband, DeVon [Franklin]," Lozada revealed to Vibe Vixen previously. "I heard him preach, and this man had me in tears. I was like, 'Wow, this is a man.'"
Good spoke about how she and Franklin came together while on "The Wendy Williams Show" earlier this year.
"DeVon is a preacher but he doesn't have a congregation. He does speaking engagements. We met six years before on a Christian film and he called me into his office and told me if I needed anything to definitely let him know," Good previously told host Wendy Williams. "Then we met again when he executive produced 'Jumping The Broom.' And here we are."
The actress has been vocal about many details of their marriage that took place last June. While she wanted to keep some details private, Good spoke about panicking when her husband asked for her hand in marriage.
"I don't want to tell the whole story because I wanted to keep something for us but the main part is that when he went and to go get the box, I didn't know what he was doing and when he brought the box out, I was like, 'What is that.' Then he started talking, and I was hearing what he was saying, and then I was like, 'OMG! He's proposing,'" the actress revealed. "I didn't know what to do so I started hyperventilating and he said, 'I can tell you are not hearing anything that I am saying at this point so I'm just going to ask you 'Will you marry me.'"
While Good said she dated Franklin for 10 months before exchanging vows, she also spoke about remaining celibate before they officially became husband and wife.
