Meryl Davis, Maks Chmerkovskiy Dating Rumors Subside; 'DWTS' Pro Headed to India

Meryl Davis and Maks Chmerkovskiy may have won the "Dancing with the Stars" championship this year, but the pair are making even more waves over their alleged romance.

The dancing duo were a fan favorite on ABC's hit dancing competition, and their electric ballroom chemistry not only earned Davis and Chmerkovskiy the Mirrorball trophy, but also hatched rumors of a real-life romance. However, both champions have denied a romance, and Chmerkovskiy just announced he will be taking a solo trip to India.

"Stay tuned for some pics from India," the Ukrainian professional dancer posted to Instagram.

As it turns out, Chmerkovskiy was tapped to guest-judge on four episodes of "Dancing with the Stars" India, actually called "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa." The gig leaves plenty of time for the pro to return stateside for "DWTS" season 19 this September, according to E! News.

Meanwhile, the "DWTS" pro confused fans when he recently admitted he "loves" Davis. Asked to talk about his Olympic ice skating partner, Chmerkovskiy said, "About our romance?" while attending the 32nd Fred Astaire Awards in June, according to Us Weekly. Then, smiling, he added, "No, we're good. We're great. She's an amazing person."

The 34-year-old "DWTS" pro went on to avoid directly addressing rumors of his romance with Davis while pointing out that dancers often produce speculation because of the close proximity on the dance floor. However, Chmerkovskiy noted that he does love Davis.

"I love her, I love her," he gushed. "I love her as a person and for what she has allowed me to do with our choreography and how much she's embraced it … I literally had a perfect partnership with Meryl. Everything just came together."

Nevertheless, Davis officially shut down the dating rumors while on "The Wendy Williams Show."

"We're not dating, no," she said. "We like to keep the personal lives personal."

Further disproving rumors of their romance, a source close to Chmerkovskiy shut down rumors that he and Davis were "touchy-feely" while out to dinner together, citing that he is "that affectionate with all women."

"It's how he is, he's very touchy-feely," the insider added, according to Us Weekly.
