'Metal Gear Survive' Latest News: Website Says Internet Connection Is Required to Play Game
After "Metal Gear Survive's" confirmation of a February 2018 release date earlier this week, another detail was revealed — this time, involving one of the game's key requirements.
According to the game's official website, Konami's upcoming survival action-adventure video game apparently requires Internet connection for gamers to enjoy the title. The note was initially raised by gamers on NeoGAF.
On the page for the game's PlayStation 4 version, it also stated that "PlayStation Plus subscription" is "required for online-multiplay." The game can accommodate up to four players, according to the description. The internet connection requirement, however, does not only cover the PS4. Gamespot reported that the same requirement also applies to the Xbox One and PC versions.
Earlier this week, Konami finally confirmed on Wednesday that "Metal Gear Survive" will be launching in the U.S. on Feb. 20, next year. The announcement, which was made on Twitter, came after the developer teased just a day before that the release date will be revealed. Europe-based gamers, on the other hand, will also get to enjoy the game four days after the U.S. official release.
The game is already up for pre-order, and players who will purchase ahead of the release date will get the Survival Pack. The Pack comes with some neat items such as a bat, a survival spear, a sledgehammer, and a survival machete, all of which are gold-plated. Furthermore, gamers who opt for the pre-order will also receive four survival scarves in different colors, namely, green blue, pink, and silver, happy and thumbs-up gestures, and Kabuki face paint.
Additionally, the Survival Kit also comes with a Mother Base nameplate and the Boxman accessory for good measure.
The game, which is a spin-off to "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain," is available for a pre-order price tag of $39.99. It was originally slated for a release this year, but Konami announced during the E3 event that they need more time to polish some parts of the game.
