Mila Kunis Joins Natalie Portman as Face of Christian Dior
The high fashion, French company Christian Dior has just confirmed today that it will make Mila Kunis the new face of the company.
Ads featuring the “Black Swan” actress will debut internationally, January 15 in Asian and European editions of ELLE, Vogue and Madame Figaro with U.S. debuts to follow. Charlize Theron and co-star Natalie Portman have also modeled for the high fashion company.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be working with Dior,” Kunis said in a statement to People magazine. “The brand is iconic in so many ways. It defines fashion, elegance and sophistication.”
The actress was originally born in the Ukraine. She was raised Jewish and cited religion as one her family’s causes for leaving the Ukraine. Natalie Portman made a statement in early 2011 citing that she was also a “proud Jew” after former Christian Dior head designer, John Charles Galliano was caught on video in an anti-Semitic tirade at a Paris bar
“I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano's comments that surfaced today. In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way,” Portman told The New York Times.
As a result, her contract with Christian Dior was affected. The fashion house later dismissed Galliano because of the incident. Dior's Chief Executive Sidney Toledano later told BBC News, “I very firmly condemn what was said by John Galliano.”
Mila Kunis has starred in television shows like “That 70’s Show” and “Family Guy.” She also appeared most recently in the movie “Friend With Benefits” alongside Justin Timberlake.
“Mila Kunis is a very talented young actress; she embodies the true modern woman. Her performance in ‘Black Swan’ was remarkable. She is very gifted,” Dior Deputy General Manager Delphine Arnault told the WWD fashion site. “We are looking forward to a long relationship with her,” the manager said.
