Miley Cyrus, 'Bonnie and Clyde' Negotiations Over; Actress Walks Away
Miley Cyrus has backed out of the opportunity to play the lead in a Lifetime miniseries, "Bonnie & Clyde." She had been in negotiations to portray real-life outlaw Bonnie but suddenly pulled out of the talks.
Right now, Cyrus is busy filming for a recurring role on CBS' "Two and a Half Men," but nothing else is known as to why she would turn down the lead in the miniseries. Earlier this week she tweeted, "I've got some serious thinkin' to do…" which may relate to her ultimate decision to back out of the negotiations.
Lifetime has had a host of celebrities appearing in its made-for-TV movies and plays. The remake of the classic play "Steel Magnolias" was a huge success and brought such legends as Queen Latifah, Phylicia Rashad, and Jill Scott and Alfre Woodard to the small screen.
"I am always looking for a good ensemble with great actors. That's always fun to experience with different people and their energies and styles of doing things," Latifah told Zap2it before the film aired.
The other highly-anticipated film from Lifetime is the semi-biopic "Liz & Dick," which brings Lindsay Lohan to the forefront as the iconic Elizabeth Taylor. The show was ridiculed for its selection of Lohan, but Lifetime went ahead with its plan to release the film in late November.
According to Lifetime's website, the film is "based on the true story of the couple's passionate and tumultuous love affair" and is the "highly anticipated comeback movie role." Grant Bowler plays the Richard Burton to Lohan's Taylor.
"I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor. She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honored to have been asked to play this role," Lohan told the press after being cast.
There's no word yet on who might take over for Cyrus in "Bonnie & Clyde."
