Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth Already 'Married,' Says Actor
Liam Hemsworth, star of "The Hunger Games," was forced to correct himself while giving an acceptance speech at an Australian awards ceremony on Wednesday after telling a crowd that he and fiancée Miley Cyrus are "married."
The 22-year-old was speaking at the Australians In Film Awards & Benefit Dinner in Australia, where he won the Breakthrough Actor award. Hemsworth acknowledged his 2010 film "The Last Song" which is where he met Cyrus, 19, but some of his words surprised onlookers, according to Hollywood Life.
"I was fortunate enough to get called back in and read with my now fiancée, and we read together and fell in love, and now we're married!" Hemsworth said.
The Australian actor was forced to correct himself just as Cyrus interjected.
"Well, not married yet but we will be," he said.
Cyrus, who was seated in the audience, supported her red-faced husband to be by yelling out "we will be!"
The former Disney star confirmed her engagement to Hemsworth on June 6 after weeks of speculation.
"I'm so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam," Cyrus said in a statement.
Hemsworth reportedly popped the big question on May 31 after dating Cyrus for approximately two years, and the teen almost immediately revealed her 3.5-carat diamond gold ring, which is said to be from renowned Hollywood jeweler Neil Lane.
While Cyrus, who is the daughter of country music star Billy Ray Cyrus, has been in good spirits since news of her engagement broke, she was recently faced with allegations that she is anorexic and took to Twitter to explain her substantial weight loss.
"For everyone calling me anorexic I have a gluten and lactose allergy," Cyrus tweeted.
"It's not about weight it's about health. Gluten is crapppp anyway!" she also wrote.
