Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth Confirm Split; VMAs Disaster to Blame?
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have split and reps for both stars recently confirmed that their engagement is off.
The tumultuous pair, who got engaged in 2012 after two-years of dating, have had a difficult year stemming from reports of an affair involving actress January Jones, 35, in February and in recent weeks it was claimed that Cyrus' lewd MTV VMAs performance added strain to their relationship. Reps for the on-and-off pair reportedly confirmed that they mutually decided to part ways, according to People.com.
"Liam really does care about Miley, but her racy new look and sort of ghetto attitude isn't exactly what he signed up for," another source said.

"Her VMA performance absolutely mortified him and he couldn't be more embarrassed. He doesn't really see anything sexy about what she did on stage," the source added.
On August 25 Cyrus, 19, took to the stage at the VMAs in Brooklyn where she gave an over-the-top performance of her new single "We Can't Stop," while dressed in latex underwear. The singer was widely criticized by fans, media critics, fellow celebrities and family groups and Hemsworth, 23, reportedly felt humiliated.
"The VMAs is the straw that will break him," a source previously predicted to Life & Style. "He wants out of the relationship."
In addition to personal differences between the Australian actor and the former Disney star, he was reportedly pressured by outsiders to end his engagement.
"All of his family and management are begging him to break it off and publicly move on," the source previously revealed.
Over the past year Cyrus has made headlines for questionable reasons including her substantial weight loss; drastic haircuts; getting her 10th tattoo and wrist cutting suspicion. Sources previously claimed that her erratic behavior was pushing the "Hunger Games" actor away.
"It's not just Liam that Miley is pushing away…his entire team is urging him to part ways with her because she's nothing but negative for his reputation and career. Liam is a serious actor with a growing career, while Miley has just turned into a joke," a source told RadarOnline.com.
"It's pretty much over. He knows he can't stay with her when this is who she's become," the source explained. "He doesn't want to babysit her anymore. He has to move on."
