Miley Cyrus Low Cut Dress Brings New Wave of 'Bad Role Model' Criticism
Miley Cyrus has been criticized for wearing an overly revealing dress to a recent celebrity attended event.
Cyrus, 19, wore a revealing Roberto Cavalli gown to Sunday’s CNN Heroes event and posed for pictures before a surprised crowd. She was attending the event with her 21-year-old boyfriend, actor Liam Hemsworth.
The young star has been criticized in the past for wearing overly revealing outfits, and has commented that she doesn’t think she should be thought of as someone for younger children to look up to; as she is young and finding her way herself. However, some critics have said that is a poor excuse and that Cyrus should step up and take responsibility for the influence she has on younger children that look up to her.
The Hannah Montana star recently came under fire for making a post-birthday party video in late November seemingly proclaiming herself to be a “stoner.”
"This is amazing," Cyrus said about her birthday cake which was in the shape of reggae artist and marijuana enthusiast Bob Marley. "You know you're a stoner when your friends make you a 'Bob Miley' cake. You know you smoke way too much ******* weed."
In April, Cyrus appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show saying she does not aim to shock people.
“It’s not about how far I can push things so people will believe I’m not Hannah Montana anymore,” Cyrus told Winfrey. “You just make the music that you love and because I’m growing up, you know, so does my music. It’s not about trying to make a statement about growing up. You know … you just do.”
