Miley Cyrus Shouldn't Concern Parents, 'Fault In Our Stars' Actress Says
Miley Cyrus should not be criticized by parents, according to actress Shailene Woodley.
Woodley, the 22-year-old actress who became popular on "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," believes parent should focus more on bullying in their children's schools instead of singer Cyrus' provocative tour.
"Why are all these parents or all these people freaking out about Miley being herself?" Woodley questioned in a Vanity Fair report. "If you don't want your kids to watch it, you know, you can change that situation at home, but don't make a big deal of what she's doing. Make a big deal about the bullies at school who are beating kids up."
Cyrus, 21, has been the face of controversy lately as a singer who has seemingly prided herself on her provocative appearance more than her music. Now, the singer is performing on her "Bangerz" tour which is filled with marijuana and sexually explicit themes.
However Woodley, the actress who stars in "The Fault In Our Stars" does not understand why some parents and people have spoken out against the singer.
"Miley isn't rude or mean or cruel to anyone in her actions," Woodley told Vanity Fair. "Whether you agree with what she's doing or not..(it's) none of your business what she does."
Cyrus previously said she believes children can learn from she and her tour.
"Even though parents probably won't think this, I think my show is educational for kids. They're going to be exposed to art most people don't know about," Cyrus said on Fuse News earlier this year, while her sister Brandi served as a correspondent. "People are taught to look at things so black and white, especially in small towns. I'm excited to take this tour to places where [art] like this wouldn't be accepted, where kids wouldn't learn about this different kind of art."
