Miley Cyrus Spiritual Beliefs Shifting to Hinduism and Reincarnation?

Actress and singer Miley Cyrus reportedly has a new tattoo of the Hindu religious symbol “Om” on her right wrist.

Cyrus, a self-proclaimed Christian, already has tattoos that indicate her feelings and opinions, including “karma” inked on her right index finger and an equality sign on her ring finger, indicating her support of gay marriage.

She has been quoted in the past saying, “I could never get a meaningless tattoo.”

The “Om” is a sacred symbol in Hinduism, and followers believe as creation began, the divine, all-encompassing consciousness took its form, and it represents divine energy.

Despite being Christian, Cyrus implied on Twitter that she believes in the Hindu concept of reincarnation, posting on her account, “Dear Universe, for my next life can I please come back as some form of marine life? Such a great day. The water makes me feel so free.”

This month, the former Disney star is featured on the cover of Prestige magazine. She told the publication, “The press seems to think that I’m trying to make this big turn and become a bad girl, and really I’m trying to be more connected with the Earth.”

The actress is currently dating Liam Hemsworth, whom she co-starred with in “The Last Song” with in 2010.

Cyrus describes her attempts to stay out of the public eye, saying: “I’m with my boyfriend, for instance, and we’re walking around, we’re sure that no one is taking our picture… Then a few hours later, it’s like, ‘Miley Cyrus Alert! She was seen with Liam in public. They were kissing and hugging!’ And you’re like, I didn’t see anybody taking our photograph that day.”

Cyrus has been targeted by the media as being a bad role model for past incidents involving smoking. She told Prestige, “I’m a great role model or I’m completely inappropriate for anyone under 13 and I am controversial.”

“I’m not some crazy lady who’s gone off the deep end, because I definitely haven’t,” Cyrus adds. “I just always try to be real. Every 18-year-old explores sexuality and experiments and tries things. For me there’s no reason to change that. You have to be true to yourself.”

The actress will star in and produce a currently untitled film later this year that is reportedly about a broken promise to God. Cyrus is effectively transitioning into more adult roles, and the God-themed movie along with another film, “LOL: Laughing Out Loud,” will be released this winter.
