Miley Cyrus 'Swatting' 911 Call Claims Kidnapping, Shots Fired at Calif. Home
Miley Cyrus' home was swarmed with police officers who were ready to open fire Wednesday night after hearing about a kidnapping involving the 19-year-old entertainer.
Los Angeles Police responded to a call about shots being fired from Cyrus' home in Studio City, Calif., on Wednesday. Although a 911 call said that a kidnapping was in progress at the residence, Sgt. Jim Parker cleared up the situation on "Good Morning America" Thursday morning.
While officers surrounded Cyrus' home with weapons drawn, Parker revealed that the incident was only a prank. Cyrus was safe with her fiance Liam Hemsworth in Philadelphia, where he is filming the movie "Paranoia."

Still, an LAPD spokesperson defended the authorities' decision to bring armed reinforcements to Cyrus' home.
"We believed there was a crime in progress," the spokesperson told Gossip Cop.
The prank, called "swatting" is punishable by law, according to the authorities.
"If the person is found, they will be arrested and prosecuted because it was a false call, a false allegation," an LAPD spokesperson told E! News.
The swatting incident at Cyrus' home took place on the same day that the "Hannah Montana" actress' semi-nude photographs were featured on the "Life of the Rich and Famous" website. Cyrus posed for nude images with well-known photographer Vijat Mohindra, including one that featured her sitting in an empty bathtub.
Still, Cyrus does not seem to be lacking fans. The actress with close to seven million Twitter followers was the subject of "The Vampire Diaries" star Nina Dobrev's tweets on Wednesday. After Dobrev told a magazine that she didn't want to "pull a Miley," the actress cleared up her comments and asked the engaged entertainer if she needed a flower girl.
"Note to self, light hearted comments don't always translate in magazine articles," Dobrev tweeted Aug. 1. "Big fan of @Mileycyrus – do you need a flower girl?"
