'Minecraft: Story Mode' News: Amazon Reveals Spinoff's Release Date (VIDEO)
A listing on Amazon has pointed to the alleged release date of the upcoming spinoff, "Minecraft: Story Mode", as next month.
Swedish video game developer Mojang and independent California digital publisher Telltale Games announced their team up in July to create a "Minecraft" standalone game with a narrative, player-driven gameplay, and online merchandiser Amazon has just revealed an October 27 release date for the textured cube sandbox spinoff.
The title has been listed on Amazon's video game section, announcing "Story Mode" for release in late October for $29.99, accompanied with the description: "You will drive the story through the decisions you make: what you say to people (and how you say it), and what you choose to do in moments of thrilling action will make this YOUR story."
The adventure-themed "Minecraft: Story Mode" is Episode One of a five episode series created by Telltale to bring players to several Minecraft locations, including Nether, the Farlands, and the End.
Unlike the previous story-less "Minecraft" titles, "Story Mode" will focus on a main character Jesse (voiced by Patton Oswalt), who sets out of a quest to find The Order of the Four, a group of seasoned adventurers famous for having destroyed the Ender Dragon. Jesse implores the help of his new friends to save the world of Minecraft from an evil threat.
"Story Mode" players will be able to progress in the game depending on their choices and actions during gameplay, where they will interact with objects and people to influence their choices and affect their advancement in the 3D cube environment.
The game's other main characters will be voiced by Martha Plimpton, Corey Feldman, Paul Reubens, Brian Posehn, Scott Porter, Billy West, and Dave Fennoy.
According to the Amazon listing, which featured a game cover image stamped with the description: "Not Final Art," "Minecraft: Story Mode" will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
