Missing Ft. Bragg Soldier Kelli Bordeaux 'May Be in Danger,' Say Police

The search has begun for missing Fort Bragg soldier Kelli Bordeaux, with both police and military officers canvassing the area. Bordeaux was last seen Saturday night, and authorities fear she may be in danger.

Army Pfc. Kelli Bordeaux, 23, was last seen leaving a bar in the Fayetteville, North Carolina area. Authorities state that friends received text messages saying she "got home safely." When she failed to show up for duty on Monday, officials were concerned.

Bordeaux is "a very good soldier, not the type of person that would come up AWOL (away without leave) or missing," police chief Tom Bergamine told reporters this morning. Now investigators believe she "may be in danger," they told WRAL-TV , refusing to give any information as to what led them to that conclusion.

Bordeaux's family from Florida has come to North Carolina in order to assist police and provide support for her husband. They will stay there until Kelli is returned, her sister told reporters.

At a press conference this morning, the police stated that they had interviewed "several persons" and were beginning to look for Bordeaux with the help of the military.

"There is some information we've gathered that makes us concerned for her safety," Fayetteville Police spokesman Gavin MacRoberts told ABC News.

Bordeaux's husband has been labeled as "cooperative" by police chief Bergamine. He was not with her when she went missing and has a solid alibi for that time.

"I can't function not knowing where she is," Johnna Henson, Bordeaux's mother, told ABC News. "I lost my mother and my husband within a three month span. I can't deal with losing my child. I can't deal with any more loss."

"Being a soldier to Kelli isn't something she'd jeopardize for anything," Oliva Cox, Kelli's sister said at a news conference. "Missing work isn't something that's in character for Kelli. This is an out of character thing to happen to my sister."

"Please give her back," Cox pleaded on WRAL-TV. "Just return my sister," she asked.
