'Moesha' Star Yvette Wilson Dies at 48

The actress best known for her role on "Moesha," Yvette Wilson, lost her battle to cervical cancer on Thursday at age 48.

Creative director and friend of Wilson's, Jeffrey Pittle, confirmed the news, according to CNN.

The 90's sitcom actress suffered from stage four cancer as well as kidney disease.

Pittle was responsible for the Give Forward page intended to raise money for the actress' medical bills earlier this year.

"Yvette has experienced kidney failure, kidney transplants and cervical cancer, among other things," Pittle wrote. "Her cancer has come back after an extended retreat, and doctors are saying it's very aggressive this time out."

Her friend and co-star Shar Jackson took to Twitter ahead of the comedienne's death requesting prayers.

"Everyone plz send prayer and light to my sister and best friend Yvette Wilson," wrote the actress. "I need my prayer soldiers right now."

As Wilson's health continued to decline leading to her death Thursday, Jackson posted another update laden with emotion.

"F--- cancer," posted the actress. "Oh God. My heart is soooo unbelievably broken. I wanna thank all my tweeties for their prayers but God has chosen to take my sister Yvette home."

Wilson portrayed Andell Wilkerson on "Moesha" alongside Brandy Norwood. She also appeared in "Russell Simmons' Def Comedy Jam" and on television shows such as "Thea," "Poetic Justice" and "The Parkers."

Fans and fellow celebrities are in mourning, and "RIP Yvette Wilson" became a trending topic on Twitter Friday as hundreds of users posted their messages of respect.

Actor Jamie Foxx posted to Twitter: "God bless u Yvette Wilson. Tears in my eyes. Keep God laughing."

"Yvette Wilson always a sweetheart," wrote actor and comedian Marlon Wayans. "Need a moment. Y'all join me in my twitter moment of silence respecting a beautiful funny lady & friend."

Actress Niecy Nash wrote, "Rip Yvette Wilson.. thank u for many years of laughs from Moesha & The Parkers," while adding a photo of Wilson.

"RIP Yvette Wilson aka Andell you will go down in history as a great Actress & Comedian," wrote Jamila.

Jbreezy pointed out, "That is the 4th cast member from Moesha to die… Lamont Bentley… Marlin Santana and Bernie Mac."
