Monica's Upcoming Album Inspired by God

Monica is gearing up for her seventh studio album release New Life, which she says is inspired by God.

The R&B singer recently appeared on the “Wendy Williams Show” to discuss the album that is slated for a February 2012 release.

New Life the title basically says that if you allow God to bless you, he will,” she told Williams. “Sometimes we block out our own blessing holding onto things that are not just for us.”

The R&B singer and newlywed said she had to confront her past in order to make such a meaningful album.

“I had to learn to embrace my new life and that’s what the album is about. I talk about my past, which by any means I am in no way ashamed of and do not feel convicted about,” she said. “All the things that happened in my life helped me to get to the point where I’m at.”

Aside from her upcoming studio release, the singer spoke about finding love in husband and NBA player Shannon Brown. Monica admitted to having been jaded by watching love fizzle out in the music industry before finding her husband.

“Sometimes I think I see a little too much because of what I do. I see what the men do when the wives are at home; the whole nine yards,” she said. “So I was like “I’ll be alone; works for me! I already have kids.”

However, Monica described her entire life changing after meeting her husband on the set of her music video “Love All Over Me.”

“I go into the video shoot and he walks in, of course, he’s so easy on the eye but even after that it was the way he treated other people,” she said.

Monica said the situation was a testament to her spirituality.

“For me, I’m very spiritual and I believe we have our own plans and God has another,” she said.
