Motorola Droid Razr Release Date: Not Getting Ice Cream Sandwich in Six Weeks
The upcoming Motorola Droid Razr smartphone will not receive the Ice Cream Sandwich update in six weeks, according to Droid-Life.
“We received a clarification on this Tweet from Motorola. They do not plan to have Ice Cream Sandwich on devices 6 weeks after the new OS is released,” wrote Droid-Life, a technology website. “Instead, they plan to announce a timeline for ICS updates within 6 weeks of Google releasing it.”
Droid-Life also indicated the update would not be available on the Bionic and XOOM within 6 weeks of the operating system's release.
A device expected to receive the Ice Cream Sandwich update in 2012 is Samsung’s Galaxy S2.
This information was revealed through Twitter via Gaurav Hasabnis’, an industry analyst and contributing editor for Fonearena.com.
Hasabnis stated that “something” would be happening to the internationally popular Android smartphone that would make users happy.
“Somethings gonna come in 2012, #SGS2 users rejoice,” tweeted Hasabnis.
The Ice Cream Sandwich operating system was unveiled last week at Google and Samsung’s “Mobile Unpacked” event in Hong Kong.
The Galaxy Nexus smartphone also made its debut at the event and will launch with Ice Cream Sandwich installed sometime in November.
