MTV Movie Awards Best Kiss Goes to 'Hunger Games' Over 'Twilight' (VIDEO)
The MTV Movie Awards, while not as prestigious as the Oscars, not only allows fans to vote but also includes fun topics worthy of a Sunday night debate. The most debatable topic this year; can Hunger Games steal the "Best Kiss" award?
"Twilight" has managed to steal every "Best Kiss" award that it has been nominated for during its reign at the MTV Movie awards. This year, however, may prove a challenge as "Hunger Games" enters the battlefield.
"Hunger Games," the first film of a three-part trilogy based on books of the same name, grossed more money in the box office than any one of the "Twilight" films.
The first "Twilight" film was introduced in 2008, when Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson first became the faces of the already famed characters from the Stephenie Meyer novels. Overall the film grossed $192,769,854 during its run at the box office.
"The Hunger Games" on its first box office stint, achieved an impressive victory over "Twilight" grossing $398,274,000. Featuring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth, the book based trilogy includes a budding romance between Lawrence, who plays Katniss, and Peeta, played by Hutcherson. Gaining such rapid popularity, it now stands as the only film that could give the Twilight kiss winning spree a run for its money.
Kristen Stewart however, the famous Bella who is an outcast gone vampire, says she wouldn't mind and is in fact hoping that she and Pattinson lose their claim on the title.
"For the past few years, it was the 'Twilight' show, and it was bizarre. This year's going to be fun. It's going to be like, 'Please, God, something different'," she told MTV UK while promoting another movie. "I would love to see how someone else deals with it, to be honest. If we didn't win, I'd actually be kind of stoked to see how it all goes down, how they handle it."
