National Dog Day Celebrated With 'Furry' Apps
Today marks the eighth annual National Dog Day and people across America are celebrating the day dedicated to raising public awareness of animal cruelty.
National Dog Day highlights the large number of dogs in need of rescue every year and encourages people to seek canine companionship, and to consider all types – not just purebred dogs for those looking for a new “best-friend.”
In light of this special day here are some “doggy” apps for owners and those looking to own.
“Perfect Dog – Ultimate Breed Guide to Dogs,” offers a thorough guide to most dog breeds and it’s free. “Perfect Dog” gives users pictures and information on rare and popular dog breeds.
Another good app for owners and their canine friends is called “My Dog,” another free application that helps owners to care for their dog the way the pup would want them to, product-reviews.net wrote. Owners are able to store all of their pet’s personal information in one place, so if there is ever an emergency – it’s right there at your fingertips.
“Dog,” a third app gives people a rundown of all the basics to becoming a “much better dog owner,” according to product-reviews.net. This is a free application.
Twitter users have been remembering their pups on this day:
@GrahamRahal tweeted, “Happy National Dog Day to all the owners of furry kids! Give them all a big hug this am!”
“It’s National Dog Day? I LOVE MY DOG! RT if you have a dog? :)” @lovelive1D wrote.
Colleen Paige founded National Dog Day in 2004. Paige is a main contributor to the Animal Miracle Network, in addition to her self-titled network. She has also founded National Cat Day and Kids & Pets Day, among several other national holidays.
Paige is known for her work as an animal behaviorist.
