NBA 2K15 Release Date: Kevin Durant Named as Cover Player; Game Headed to Consoles October 7 (VIDEO)
Kevin Durant was just announced as the cover athlete for NBA 2K15 by 2K Sports this week.
In what has proved to be an already good week for the ballplayer, his team, the Oklahoma City Thunder made it to the second round of the playoffs, and he was named the NBA's MVP.
"It's something that I've been longing for a while," said Durant in a conference call released along with the announcement, "and I'm just grateful for the opportunity."
The small forward is already a huge fan of the game, and is honored by the opportunity.
"I begged them to put me on the cover," said Durant. "I really think nobody plays the game as much as I do. I wanted to be a part of it."
Durant also revealed which game mode he loves in the upcoming basketball game simulator.
"I enjoy playing the myPlayer mode. Taking your guy through a season, getting drafted ... I feel that's how it is as a real NBA player. It's about the journey."
Durant will be replacing his buddy and rival Lebron James on this year's cover.
The game is set to launch on Oct. 7 in North America and on Oct. 10 globally. The last installment sold over 5 million copies and was wdiely praised as one of the best basketball video games ever.
