'NBA 2K18' Latest News: Nintendo Switch Owners Need External SD Card to Download Game
Gamers from around the world can already enjoy some good old basketball action from "NBA 2K18." Owners of the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch can start downloading the game, but for the latter, one small requirement is still needed.
Gamespot reported that a save file for "NBA 2K18" eats up 5 GB. That gives Switch owners a bit of a problem, considering the console's internal memory of 32 GB — 25GB of which are usable. This means that Nintendo Switch owners who wish to download the game's digital copy should first have a microSD card by their side.
The Nintendo Support website confirmed the requirement in a recent post. "A microSD card (sold separately) is required to download "NBA 2K18" for Nintendo Switch, in addition to 5GB per save file on the system memory," wrote Nintendo.
"Please have the microSD card inserted before beginning the game download and ensure that you have a least 5GB of system memory (not on a microSD card) available." Moreover, the game requires 16.1 GB for its additional software update, on top of the 6.8GB initial software download requirement.
Even if players opt for a physical copy of the game, they still need to have a microSD card ready.
Just like the Xbox One and PS4 versions, the Nintendo Switch version will offer the same features and content. The difference, however, will be in the graphics, as the "NBA 2K18" in Switch runs at 30 FPS while the other two versions are pegged at 60 FPS.
Launched earlier this week, "NBA 2K18" offers new content and interesting features that turn the game in a more engaging installment of the franchise. It offers the Neighborhoods mode, which is a featured social space where players can hang out and purchase items like shoes, clothing, and other services for their players.
Another is the appearance of NBA legends Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett who returns as guest commentators.
