NBA Lockout Ending Soon?

The NBA lockout, which has been in existence for three months, may come to a head on Tuesday, according to various industry sources.

Derek Fisher, Los Angeles Laker and president of the National Basketball Players Association, said that he was hopeful about significant progress being made on Tuesday.

"A lot of signs point to tomorrow being a very huge day," Fisher said, according to CNN. "There will be a lot of pressure on all of us in the room, and we'll accept that responsibility and go in and see what we can get worked out."

With the regular season fast approaching on Nov. 1, pressure has increased to end the lockout, according to ESPN. Monday would have been the first day of training camps, which have been postponed along with 43 preseason games that were supposed to take place between Oct. 9-15.

In a meeting concerning lockout negotiations on Monday, Fisher said he understood that time was running out to conclude the ordeal.

“We are aware of the calendar,” Fisher said, according to CNN. “We know our backs are against the wall in terms of regular season games and what those consequences will be."

Deputy Commissioner, Adam Silver, agreed that the meeting would be important on Tuesday with the beginning of a potential new season fast approaching.

"Each side understands exactly what's at stake and where potentially there is movement in order to try to get a deal done," Silver said, according to CBS. "I mean, we can only say we're running out of time so many times. We both understand that if we don't make our best offers in the next few days, we're going to be at the point where we're going to be causing damage to the game, to ourselves, and they're going to be out paychecks."

In a letter to the players, six of the league’s biggest agencies presented a warning letter to players, telling them not to rush a deal that could turn out badly.

"Remember, it is not about when or how fast a deal is reached, it is about taking the time to secure the best deal," the letter said, according to ESPN.
