NBA Rumors Roundup: Magic Targets Ross, Knicks May Trade For Casspi
The following are the latest trade rumors for the 2016-17 NBA Season.
1. Terrence Ross to Orlando Magic
The Orlando Magic it appears is interested in trading for Terrence Ross of the Toronto Raptors. Ross, a shooting guard known for his shooting skills, will help provide more points to a team that needs it.
Orlando currently has a losing record of 10-15, which puts them at 12th place in the Eastern Conference. Josh Robbins of Orlando Sentinel says, "Despite a recent uptick in ball movement and shooting, the Magic entered Monday ranked 29th in the NBA in points scored per possession.
To help with their shooting woes, the Magic has a lot of assets they could trade to other teams. Some of their players are in their final season with Orlando, such as C.J. Wilcox, Jodie Meeks and Serge Ibaka. Moreover, the team has the option of trading C.J. Watson.
One player that the Magic is targeting for a trade is Terrence Ross. Ross is currently averaging 10.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per game on 43.5% shooting from beyond the arc. The Magic could send Serge Ibaka to Toronto for the shooter.
The Raptors would benefit from acquiring Serge Ibaka, especially after they lost Bismack Biyombo. Ibaka is currently averaging 14.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game this season.
2. Omri Casspi to New York Knicks
The Knicks currently have a standing of 14 wins and 10 losses; putting them at 4th place in the Eastern Conference. The team won 6 of their last 7 games, and if this streak continues, New York may finally live up to the hype they attained after acquiring Derrick Rose and a slew of other top talents.
By December 15, newly-signed free agents will already be available for trade. It is expected that many teams will take this opportunity to improve their rosters. Despite the Knicks' solid performance early this season, many believe they will join other teams in shifting players around and filling up key strategic holes in the process.
It is rumored that the New York Knicks may trade for Omri Casspi by December 15. Casspi is currently playing for the Sacramento Kings, and is averaging 6.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. He is also shooting 36% from beyond the arc.
Casspi is averaging fewer minutes per game right now than last season, and his agents say he isn't contented with his currently team role. He is currently playing 19 minutes per game, compared to 27 minutes last season.
With Casspi, the Knicks will have a player who can play the wing and is actually relatively tall for that position. Since a lot of teams in the NBA right now are exploring small ball options, Casspi will be a great fit for New York when the team decides to tap into that system.
