NBA Trade Rumors, Latest News: Kevin Love Leaving for Cleveland Cavaliers August 2014
It seems that the Cleveland Cavaliers and Minnesota Timberwolves have both reached an agreement regarding Kevin Love's trade. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported that Timberwolves forward, Love, is to be traded to the Cavaliers for Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett, and a 2015 first-round pick.
Most other trade rumors surrounding the NBA have quieted down with the approach of the playoffs season.
It would appear that the only thing left to heat up the rumor mill is Love's transfer. The trade is most likely to happen sometime in August, says Timberwolves' owner Glen Taylor.
"I'm saying it's most likely because Kevin has made it pretty clear that that's what he wants to do," Taylor said.
The Cavaliers have been adamant about acquiring Love to pair him with LeBron James. Though the Cavaliers might get what they want, it's important to note that the Timberwolves would get Andrew Wiggins and a first-round draft pick.
Even with such a high-valued first pick on their hands, it will be hard to replace the hole that will be left behind by Love, an all-star player. Taylor feels, however, that bringing together such young players on the same team will fill the gap quite easily.
On the Timberwolves' side, Wiggins and Zach LaVine would have the potential to create an excellent perimeter tandem.
The only thing left would be to convince Ricky Rubio to stick with Taylor's rebuilding process. If the team manages to do that, then Love's departure wouldn't hurt the team all that much.
