New Chuck Lorre Comedy 'Mom' Slated for CBS
A new Chuck Lorre comedy, "Mom," was ordered by major television network CBS. The famed show creator's latest multi-camera sitcom will have a pilot episode shot, and the script has already been written.
The new Chuck Lorre comedy is about the trials of a newly sober single mother attempting to restart her life after some rough years. However, she's starting over in California's Napa Valley, known as wine country, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The half-hour sitcom pilot episode was written by Lorre, producer Eddie Gorodetsky, and story editor Gemma Baker. We can expect some of the same laughs Lorre has been responsible for in the past, as he and Gorodetsky have worked on "Two and A Half Men," "Dharma & Greg," "Big Bang Theory," and "Mike & Molly" together.

The newest sitcom marks Lorre's first new project since he made the lucrative 4-year deal with Warner Bros. Studios in September. As such, "Mom" will be executive produced by Lorre and Gorodetsky through Chuck Lorre Productions and Warner Bros. Television.
Though the traditional multi-camera sitcom was slated as a "top prospect for the network's fall 2013 schedule" by Deadline.com, the reactions by fans is mixed at best.
"A show about a single mom trying to get her life together! … Wildly original! Never been done!" wrote Eliza on the Deadline.com blog.
"A good comedy is a good comedy. … Simple as that," argued Terrence. "If lightning has already struck thrice with Lorre, you may as well go back to that well. But the pressure is on Lorre because CBS really needs a new comedy hit."
No female lead has been announced yet, as details about casting are still sparse. Lorre has a history of having smart and strong female casting in previous sitcoms "Grace Under Fire" and "Cybill."
