New 'Red Dead Redemption 2' Trailer Revealed; Rockstar Remains Mum About Game's Release Date
Gamers who are itching to any form of update on "Red Dead Redemption 2" can thank Rockstar Games for its latest tease.
The game developer revealed on Thursday a new trailer for the highly-anticipated game. The video gave fans a glimpse of the game's story, as well as some characters, combat scenes, and other notable moments. The most awaited detail, however, was left behind as Rockstar remained mum on the game's release date.
The trailer gave fans a clear look at Arthur Morgan, the game's protagonist. Moreover, the video also showcased the Van der Linde gang, a bow weapon and a crocodile. Gamespot reported that it was the first time the developers shared some details about the game in several months. Last May, Rockstar released screenshots showing some of the game's different environments. Prior to that, the game's first ever trailer was released about 11 months ago.
According to the trailer's official description, the game will feature "the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive."
Meanwhile, Polygon noted that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be a prequel to the first "Red Dead Redemption" game. The report said that Arthur Morgan is an outlaw who is aligned with the Dutch Gang, where Van der Linde used to be the ringleader. The gang, however, ceased to exist by 1911, which is the setting for "Red Dead Redemption."
Last month, Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two, said in an earnings call that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will not compete with "Grand Theft Auto V" (GTA V) when it comes to sales. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked if the upcoming game will lessen the sales of "GTA V."
The honcho responded by saying, "when there's more than one title in the marketplace that compels people, the market also expands to take advantage of it."
