Nexus 5 Rumors: Device to be Created by Motorola

A new Nexus 5 rumor surfaced today once again stating that the smartphone will be made by Motorola.

The new report by @evleaks involved a leak of a device that was originally thought to be an LG-made Nexus 5, but was now confirmed to be the LG Optimus L9 II.

The site tweeted out a picture of this handset and a message clarifying who will make the successor to the Nexus 4.

"PSA: that "Nexus 5" is probably the LG Optimus L9 II. Nexus 5 (Nexus 4 v2) looks to be a Motorola handset," said @evleaks.

The site suggests in the message that the next-gen Nexus might end up being an updated version of the Nexus 4, instead of a Nexus 5 with a bigger display.

Previous reports have been conflicting regarding who will make the Nexus 5.

The Nexus 5 release date will be sometime in Oct. If LG ends up making it, it could feature similar specs to the company's G2.

This rumor originated from a report in South Korean media. The outlet claims the device will be priced around the same amount as its predecessor. This means it will retail somewhere around $299 and will come automatically unlocked.

In order to make this a reality, there will have to be some changes made to the LG G2 to make the device more affordable in Nexus form.

Another story surfaced earlier this month stating that Motorola will be the maker of the next-gen Nexus handset.

The new device will be a brand new Nexus model and not a pure Android version of the Moto X, according to a report from Taylor Wimberly. He also stated that the release date for the device will fall somewhere in Q4 2013. Wimberly revealed this information through a Google+ post.
