Nick Cannon Health Crisis Caused by Autoimmune Disease (PHOTO)
Nick Cannon's health concerns have been traced back to an autoimmune disease, it has been reported.
Cannon, who is an America's Got Talent presenter and husband to pop diva Mariah Carey, has chosen to speak openly about the condition, which was revealed after he was hospitalized with acute kidney failure recently.
The presenter has said that his kidney problems have been a result of an "autoimmune disease that (doctors) found in my system."
"They kind of say (my) autoimmune (disease) is – like a lupus type of thing, but no one else in my family has it," Cannon said to People.
His health woes do not end there however; just last month doctors found blood clots in his lungs, which were reportedly caused by a kidney infection. He said, "The blood clot thing was probably the scariest because… I've known people who have passed away from that. I thought I was getting better and then that happened, so that kind of came out of nowhere."
Cannon has added that the kidney problems will be "something I'm going to be living with all my life," but for the moment he is focusing on his recovery and is looking to spend more time with his family and wife.
Cannon said, "I'm just trying to make sure I put my health first… I feel blessed to be alive. If it wasn't discovered, I don't know (what would have happened)."
