Nicki Minaj, Rihanna 'Beef' Started by 'Real World' Cast Member Has Fans Upset

Nicki Minaj and Rihanna both received accolades at the MTV Video Music Awards that aired Thursday night, but some are questioning if the two recording artists are feuding after the rapper reportedly shunned the singer.

Minaj, 29, was announced the winner for Best Female Video for her song "Starships." While 24-year-old Rihanna was also nominated in the category for her song "We Found Love," the Barbadian singer reportedly tried to congratulate Minaj for winning the MTV moon man award.

Although MTV cameras did not catch the exchange between the two music artists, one former "Real World" cast member took to Twitter to explain the scene that she witnessed where Minaj reportedly rejected Rihanna's congratulatory hug.

Trishelle Cannatella, former "Real World" cast member, tweeted about the incident that took place between the two women.

"Omg #VMAs inside scoop. Nicki Minaj just told Rhianna (sic) to 'sit the (expletive) down' when she tried to hug her," the former "Real World" cast member gearing up to co-star in the "Battle of The Seasons" reality show on MTV tweeted. "Love it!!!"

However, fans of the two musicians were not so quick to accept Cannatella's account of what happened between the two women.

"Grr @TrishelleC I hate dumb (expletives) like you that try to get stuff started between celebrities," one person tweeted. "...Go sit in a corner."

Another person said they would not believe in the rumors until Rihanna or Minaj confirmed the reports.

"I won't believe it until it comes from the horse's mouth about beef with @NICKIMINAJ and @rihanna," the person tweeted.

Still, other people fed into the drama initiated by the reality television show star.

"IDK..I think these famous ppl are just as bad with drama as we are...smh," another person tweeted.

While the rumors continued to circulate about the two women after the awards show, they both failed to mention one another or the reported issues following the show. Rihanna decided to tweet about being happy to win an award for video of the year.

"#RihannaNAVi we won Video of the Year," the Barbadian singer tweeted. "Thank you for voting! My night was major! Jah bless."

Minaj also decided to thank MTV for her accomplishments.

"OMG MTV," Minaj tweeted after the award show. "Thank you!"
