Nicole Kidman Falls, to Press Charges Over Paparazzo Bike Crash
Nicole Kidman is recovering from an incident involving an aggressive bike riding paparazzo in New York City on Thursday.
The Oscar Award-winning actress has been spotted attending several New York Fashion Week events, and Thursday, Sept. 12 was no different.
While leaving the Calvin Klein fashion show, Kidman was knocked to the ground by a camera-wielding cyclist who had lost control of his bike, according to Us Magazine.
Photos reveal the moment Kidman was thrown to the ground outside of the Carlyle Hotel on Manhattan's Upper East Side following the collision.
The paparazzo, identified as Carl Wu, has been riding his bike on the sidewalk trying to capture a photo of the Hollywood starlet when he got too close.
As a result, Wu was issued a summons by the New York Police Department for riding on the sidewalk.
Furthermore, the photographer made a statement apologizing for the "accident."
"It looks bad but it is an accident," he said, according to ABC News. "This all went down very fast and I'm sorry it happened."
Fortunately, the 46-year-old actress is "ok," according to Entertainment Tonight.
However, Kidman is "leaving the incident up to police."
Meanwhile, Kidman is not the first celebrity to have had a run-in with members of the media, and many high-profile individuals have even sought stronger laws to protect themselves and members of their family from paparazzi.
Last week, Jennifer Love Hewitt and her fiancé Brian Hallisay were named in headlines involving a battery charge filed by a photographer after in incident in Los Angeles.
Then, just last month, famed celebrity moms Jennifer Garner and Halle Berry testified in favor of stronger anti-paparazzo laws in order to protect their children.
Another past incident saw actor Sean Penn in a violent altercation with a photographer that involved kicking, resulting in a three-year probation for the actor.
