Nokia Lumia 920 Release Announced for Rogers Wireless in Canada
Nokia and the Canadian carrier known as Rogers Wireless confirmed that the new Lumia 920 smartphone will be available in Canada in November.
"Rogers is proud to bring the new Nokia Lumia 920 to our customers looking for the best unified experience and to further extend our leadership as the carrier with the largest LTE superphone selection in Canada," said John Boynton, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Rogers Communications.
"With seamless access to entertainment, sports and business content, the Nokia Lumia 920 offers customers a world leading internet experience powered by the Rogers LTE network," he added.
AT&T also announced earlier this week that it would make the Nokia Lumia 920 available to its customers.
The Lumia 920 will be Nokia's first Windows 8 Phone in the U.S. market. The device was unveiled by the company last month without a release date or confirmation of which carriers will offer it.
Nokia hopes to capitalize off Microsoft's latest operating system and make itself a valid competitor for Apple and Samsung.
Verizon is also rumored to be a carrier that will offer the Lumia 920 in the future; however, this has not been confirmed by either Nokia or the Verizon. If AT&T grabbed a 3-month exclusive with the handset, no other major American carriers will have the Lumia 920 until 2013.
Carriers in Italy and Sweden have already announced plans to offer the Lumia 920 for 599 Euros which is equivalent to about $774.
The Nokia Lumia 920 features a brightly colored plastic body and a spring mounted 8.7-megapixel camera. It also comes with new software called City Lens that displays the names of restaurants and shops when users point the camera in their direction.
Other features on the handset include Windows Phone 8, and a 4.5-inch screen.
