Olivia Newton-John Reacts to Suicide At Her Home, Details Emerge

Olivia Newton-John is still suffering from the shock of a suicide taking place at her Florida home on Monday, and now new details are available.

Newton-John and her husband were out of town at the time of the suicide, but had employed the victim as a landscaper on the property.

According to a statement on Tuesday by Florida police, the victim was 42-year-old Christopher Pariseleti who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, reported Us Magazine.

"The case investigation has been classified as a suicide and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of Mr. Pariseleti," the statement from police added.

It is not known why the victim took his own life, but he was well known in the area, according to a source close to Newton-John.

"He was a longtime and good contractor in the area," said the insider, according to Us magazine.

Shortly before committing suicide, Pariseleti had "dropped his eight-year-old son – I think at school," added the insider. "So sad. He had a lot of internal issues."

Upon hearing news of the suicide at their home, Newton-John and her husband John Easterling were "in shock over the tragic event," they said in a statement.

According to Florida police, Pariseleti took his own life outside the Jupiter Inlet Colony house, which he had been working on ahead of August 19.

The property is up for sale, and contractors had reportedly been working on it before the incident. Earlier this month, Rosie O'Donnell was under contract to buy the mansion for $5.6 million, according to Gossip Extra.

The suicide is the latest tragedy to strike Newton-John. The actress recently lost her sister, Rona, to brain cancer.

However, Newton-John herself has been cancer-free for over a decade after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992.

Meanwhile, Newton-John is best known for her role in 1978's hit film "Grease" alongside John Travolta. Some of the singer's most popular songs include "You're The One That I Want" and "Physical," to name a few.
