Paget Brewster Joins 'Law & Order: SVU' Cast (VIDEO)
Actress Paget Brewster has had many roles in her life, but now she is switching teams and channels for fall's new premiere. Instead of starring on CBS' "Criminal Minds," which brought her a lot of fame and adoration, she will be appearing on NBC's "Law & Order: SVU."
Brewster played the strong and independent Emily Prentiss on "Criminal Minds" for a total of six years, earning fans' trust and adoration. After five years, CBS executives announced they were cutting her role, and that of costar AJ Cook, in order to save money.
Fans were so appalled that they sent thousands of letters to CBS asking for Brewster to be brought back on the show. She was brought back after only one season off the series, but turned around and announced that the new season would be her last. At the end of last season, Prentiss was officially written off the show, but the door was left open should Brewster choose to return.
Now fans can see her try her hand on "Law & Order: SVU." Brewster will star as a special Bureau Chief Assistant District Attorney in charge of handling the case against the character of Captain Donald Cragen, who was seen in last season's finale waking up next to a dead woman.
For fans of Brewster's, the news may come as a bit of a surprise, but will certainly be interesting to watch. The cast of "SVU" has changed so much in recent years, and Brewster will not be the only addition for the upcoming season. Ron Rifkin will reprise his role as a defense attorney and Brian Cassidy will also return as a disgruntled SVU detective.
"SVU" premieres with a special 2-hour episode on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 9:00 p.m. EST.
