Blogger Pamela Geller Refutes Link to Anders Behring Breivik
Conservative bloggers are feeling the heat all the way from Norway. The political right is coming under fire for allegedly stoking the anti-Islamic flames that are thought to have inspired Anders Behring Breivik’s killing spree in Norway on Friday. One conservative blogger and known anti-jihadist, Pamela Geller, speaks out on what she describes as the “outrageous” injustice that has been done to her and her fellow activists.
“It’s like equating Charles Manson, who heard in the lyrics of Helter Skelter a calling for the Manson murders,” Geller said in a phone interview to the Daily Caller. “It’s like blaming the Beatles. It’s patently ridiculous.” Geller runs the web blog known as "Atlas Shrugs."
Breivik killed 76 people on Friday when he went on a bombing and shooting spree in Oslo. This was the worst attack the country has experienced since World War II. It has been reported that Breivik is an anti-Muslim and anti-multiculturalist extremist.

The judge involved in Breivik’s arraignment on Monday stated the alleged killer “believes that he needed to carry out these acts to save Norway [from] cultural Marxism and Muslim domination.”
According to an English translation of Norway royal court papers, as quoted by The Associated Press: "The operation was not to kill as many people as possible but to give a strong signal that could not be misunderstood that as long as the Labor Party keeps driving its ideological lie and keeps deconstructing Norwegian culture and mass importing Muslims then they must assume responsibility for this treason."
Breivik is currently in custody and has pleaded “not guilty.”
He has left behind a 1500-page document that the media has dubbed as his “manifesto.” In it, he cites various bloggers, thinkers, and philosophers as his sources of inspiration. Geller was among those named. The manifesto has directed attention to bloggers and activists like Geller who have been described as “anti-Muslim.”
Geller told the Daily Caller that although she and her fellow activist, Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch, appear in the manifesto so does several other credible thinkers such as Thomas Hobbes, John Locke and Adam Smith.
“Are they responsible too?” Geller asks the DC.
“He mentions me once in a 1,500 page ‘manifesto,’ and this is the tie? Does anyone see how completely ridiculous this whole thing is?”
Spencer was quoted at least 60 times. He responded to the responsibility placed on him by the media on his website Monday stating that “the Breivik murders are being used to discredit all resistance to the global jihad and Islamic supremacism.”
Similarly, Geller wrote on Sunday that the “Islamic/leftist machine” is trying to blame the massacre on “those of us who are working diligently to educate the people.”
Geller also told the Daily Caller that the decision to label Breivik as a conservative Christian, which she pins on the mainstream media, doesn’t make sense.
“He himself said he’s not a religious man,” Geller said “There’s nothing in Christianity that calls for this.”
According to the DC, Geller believes that there was no ideological force that drove Breivik to kill. On the other hand, the “close to 20,000 Islamic attacks since 9/11” were ideologically driven according to Geller.
She goes on to say that she has never been a proponent of violence.
“Nowhere in anything that I’ve ever written do I ever in any way promote violence. I’m a human rights activist. I fight for freedom.”
“This to me is naked agenda bias,” Geller said to the DC. “Clearly the media is no longer taking a passive role, or even objective reporting. The media has become an activist voice for supremacists and the far left.”
