Patrick Stewart Marries, Sir Ian McKellan Officiated Ceremony

Patrick Stewart wed longtime girlfriend Sunny Ozell during a ceremony which Sir Ian McKellan officiated over the weekend.

Not one to mince words, Stewart confirmed news of his wedding via Twitter on Monday.

"Yes, married," wrote the "Star Trek" actor along with a photo of himself and his new wife neck-deep in a pit of plastic balls.

The 73-year-old actor tied may have tied knot with Ozell, a Brooklyn-based singer, on Sunday, but his friend McKellan was sure to note his contribution to the wedding on Facebook.

"I did my part," the 74-year-old "Hobbit" star posted, along with a photo of himself with a "Doctor of Divinity" license and a shirt reading "Minister."

Meanwhile, newlywed Stewart is a frequent Twitter user who shocked fans earlier this year when he revealed that he had never eaten a piece of pizza.

"My first ever pizza 'slice,'" wrote the actor. "Please note: the authentic NY fold."

In the post, Stewart added a photo of himself in a baseball cap holding both a drink and a large slice of pizza folded in half with large bites taken out of it.

The tweet had fans asking if perhaps the actor had only just now sampled New York pizza, or if it was his first slice ever.

Clearing up the speculation, Stewart spoke to New York magazine.

"People misunderstood, there was a school of thought that I had eaten my first pizza, but of course how could that possibly be true," the actor went on to explain.

"I would have had to have stayed locked up in a cellar," Stewart joked. "But nevertheless, this was my first slice of pizza, which I was only eating because my fiancée and I were a little hung-over yesterday morning and she said what we need is pizza and a soothing drink- and she was right."

Furthermore, the "X-Men" star noted that he had just moved to Brooklyn's Park Slope neighborhood, yet had never stopped for a slice of pizza.

"I know, it's hard to understand," the actor told NY magazine. "But, you know, I would go in there and order a pizza and eat a whole pizza. It was the concept of the slice that I had never encountered before."

Stewart noted that his first pizza slice was enjoyed at Brooklyn's well-established Smiling Pizza, and that he was "astonished" about the reactions people have had to his tweet.
