Toyota recently unveiled the concept models for two new additions to its Prius plug-in line up called NS4 and Prius C along with its C's release date, at the 2012 North American International Auto Show.

This NS4 is described by MSN autos as a midsize plug-in hybrid that is separate from Prius made to study the human-machine interface and the future of safety technology.

Toyota previously stated that it would like its hybrid line to feature lighter components, a better fuel economy, longer all-electric driving range and better acceleration.

This upcoming Prius plug-in model will only have 10 to 15 miles of electric range. It also includes a full suite of next-level safety features, including cameras in place of outside and rearview mirrors, Adaptive Driving Beam headlights that will reduce the glare to oncoming traffic but provide nearly as much light as high beams and a Pre-Collision system with near infrared beams to prevent accidents during the night.

It comes equipped with solar panels on the roof and a windshield that has new technologies allowing it to reduce harmful rays and fogging along with lower interior temperature and help to get rid of raindrops.

The NS4 sports a futuristic look that allows it to stand out among the crowd. It will also stand as its own entity separate from the rest of the Toyota Prius line.

The Japanese car maker also unveiled a concept model for the Prius C. This car will get its owner 53 miles per gallon in the city, the highest city rating for any vehicle without a plus. High-strength steel was used to build the car which allows it to weight about 2,500 pounds. Its light weight and strong body give the car a sportier feel and look.

The Prius C will come in four separate models. Some of it features include satellite radio, HD radio and Toyota’s Entune multimedia system that allows the car to access passengers applications though their smartphones.

The Prius C is set to launch in March of this year.
