'Property Brothers' Star Drew Scott Shares Near-Role-Reversal With Twin Brother Jonathan
In an alternate universe, the stars of HGTV's "Property Brothers" could have switched roles. That setup, however, nearly turned into reality right from the very start.
Drew Scott revealed in their latest memoir titled "It Takes Two: Our Story" that his current setup with his brother, Jonathan, in their show was not originally the intended one. "Little-known fact: I was originally cast as the contractor on Property Brothers, and Jonathan was supposed to be the real estate agent," wrote Drew.
"The producer thought I looked a little more brawny, and as Jonathan was the broker for our company, they thought he was more the suit guy," the 39-year-old real estate guru added. Amid the confusion, the twins initially decided to go with the flow set by HGTV. "We thought this was a great opportunity and didn't want to rock the boat, so didn't challenge them on it," explained Drew.
Drew, however, cleared the air by explaining their respective strengths and capabilities to the network. In turn, the two instantly swapped roles and things fell into place accordingly. Furthermore, Drew said that despite his confidence in being hands-on in the renovations, he believes that "the show would not have seen the same success without Jonathan in that role."
"It Takes Two: Our Story" is currently available on Amazon for $17.70 for the hardcover version. An audio version is also available for $30 while a kindle variant goes for $14.99.
Earlier this month, Drew confirmed that he had been practicing and preparing really hard for "Dancing With the Stars" (DWTS) season 25. He said that he and his brother were already asked to appear on the show, but it's only now that it had materialized.
In addition, his training has already resulted to him shedding off significant amounts of weight. "I'm dedicated. I'm a slim guy but I've lost 25 pounds in the last six weeks," Drew revealed in an interview with ET.
Drew will be teaming up with "DWTS" season 24 winner Emma Slater in the reality dance show scheduled to premiere this fall.
