PS Vita Not Always A Controller Option for PS4, Explains Exec
The PS4 will be able to utilize their handheld Playstation Vita as a controller for select games on the new console according to Sony President.
Initial confusion had the Vita as a controller option for the PS4, and since then Sony executive Shuhei Yoshida has clarified the information on Twitter.
"HEY BRO!... Could you tell us if the PS Vita 'The Ultimate companion' Can be used as a second controller on the PS4?" a Twitter user asked, to which he responded, "Hey BRO! In a normal sense, no. Unless a game is specifically programmed to allow such use of PS Vita."
Sony, however, is promising that virtually every game coming to the console will be playable on the Vita as an additional feature and extension of the game not necessarily as a unique control for the console version, according to Gamespot.com.
Also, games that utilize the Playstation Eye or Move will not be compatible with the PS Vita.
As far as the regular controller, it is being heralded as a vast improvement over the PS3 and will probably go down as one of the greatest controllers, ever according to testers.
The DualShock 4 gamepad for Playstation 4 will include new innovations such as a touchpad, improved analog sticks, a light bar, and a speaker.
The touchpad will have pinch and zoom features as well as clickable mouse like functions, and swiping. This option adds a whole new depth to games allowing for a whole new set of commands at the users fingertips, according to Tech Radar.
The analog sticks will now have a concave center and be slightly spaced apart, allowing for maximum comfort and little movement for gamers' thumbs.
Start and select have been subbed out in favor of share and options, another sign of the future and what the new consoles are capable of doing.
Perhaps one of the coolest features is the PS4's light bar. The controller will light up to three different colors to distinguish between controllers and even interact with the system's Eye camera and change color due to certain situations occurring in the game.
The changes to the controller are among the biggest made since the original Playstation controller in the 1990s. The DualShock 1 and 2 (PS2) were virtually the same controller, with the PS3 stepping up some of the already in-place features. PS4's controller is making a big jump, and one that is heading into the right direction for the console.
