R. Kelly Compares Chris Brown to Jesus Christ
Chris Brown may be a troubled R&B singer, but his fellow entertainer R.Kelly believes that his life has some similarities to that of Jesus Christ.
Brown, the 24-year-old singer-songwriter, has been in and out of legal trouble throughout the year and is currently serving probation stemming from his 2009 assault of ex-girlfriend Rihanna. Now, he has been sentenced to three months in a rehabilitation center.
However, R.Kelly,46, said he does not feel sorry for Brown and explained why.
"I only feel sorry for weak people. And mostly what I've come to find is that the weak people are the ones that are the haters," R.Kelly recently told The Guardian. "The ones that's talking about Chris Brown, or R. Kelly, or anybody that's successful? I feel sorry for them, not Chris Brown, because he's obviously one strong individual to be able to do what he's done."
R.Kelly went on to liken Brown to some influential figures in history.
"He got knocked down a little bit and he climbed up. You know, that sounds like [boxer Muhammad] Ali to me," R.Kelly told The Guardian. "That sounds like [civil rights activist] Martin Luther King to me. That sounds like a lot of the greats that have walked this earth."
The veteran singer went as far to liken Brown's situation to that of Jesus.
"It even sounds a little bit like Jesus to me," he said. "I'm not saying that Chris Brown is Jesus or R. Kelly is Jesus. But Jesus is the number one inspirer of someone being knocked down and rising again."
Earlier this year, Brown claimed that God was keeping him strong throughout his struggles.
"I hope people can actually see the truth," Brown tweeted. "My cross is heavy but God gives me the strength to carry it."
