Reese Witherspoon Admitted Forgetfulness Ahead of Arrest

Reese Witherspoon has recently revealed factors that may have led to her unfortunate arrest last week in a new interview.

The actress and her husband Jim Toth were taken into custody in Atlanta, Ga. for DUI and disorderly conduct, respectively on April 20. A recently-released interview with the actress revealed possible insight to her latest uncharacteristic behavior.

Witherspoon, who already has two children from a previous marriage, discussed life after she and her husband welcomed their son Tennessee while speaking to a British women's magazine.

"Ever since I had the baby, I can't remember anything," said the actress speaking to Red magazine. "Serious, this child stole my brain."

Moreover, Witherspoon said her memory loss is affecting her friendships.

"I'm losing friendships over forgetting to get back to people," she added during the interview, which will appear in the magazine's June edition. "But you can't keep up with everything. I've got a 13-year-old, a 9-year-old, and a baby."

Regardless of the reasons for last week's dual arrests, recent reports indicate Witherspoon and Toth have taken the incident as "a bit of a wakeup call."

"It's going to take her a long time to get over and she knows she let her family down," a source close to Witherspoon told E! News.

Furthermore, the actress is "devastated" by the recent events, and is "trying to lay low and spend time with her family."

Following the run in with the law, Witherspoon issued an apology and admitted that she was "deeply embarrassed."

"Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now," the Oscar Award-winner started in a statement. "But I do want to say, I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said."

According to several reports, Witherspoon asked the police officer if he knew her name and told him he was "going to be on national news."

"It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse," the actress continued in her mea culpa. "I was disrespectful for the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I'm very sorry for my behavior."
