Reese Witherspoon Attached to New Film 'Engagement'
Reese Witherspoon has been named in rumors surrounding a new film "The Engagement," according to reports on Thursday.
The "Legally Blonde" star may be starring in and producing the film adaptation of author J. Courtney Sullivan's novel of the same name, according to Deadline.
Although the book will not be published until June, Fox 2000 is in final negotiations to acquire the rights to the romantic story.
"The Engagement" features a story about a diamond engagement ring from the 1930s that links together five very different couples from both the past and present.
The novel is the third novel by Sullivan who penned "Commencement" and "Maine."
Witherspoon will produce the film in conjunction with Bruna Papandrea of Pacific Standard. Among their other projects is the film "Gone Girl" based on the novel by Gillian Flynn.
Meanwhile, Witherspoon has remained busy in both her professional and personal life. The 36-year-old actress welcomed her third child in October last year, and was recently said to be branching out into music.
In December last year, singer Michael Buble revealed that Witherspoon would be providing vocals on his next album, according to the British talk show "Daybreak."
"I just really am a big fan, and so myself and my camp, we wanted to do this with her, and we were thrilled that she was excited about it too," he said.
Witherspoon appeared in the 2005 Johnny Cash biopic "Walk The Line," where she performed several songs.
Furthermore, Witherspoon will appear in "Mud" alongside Matthew McConaughey later this year, with "Devil's Knot" scheduled for release sometime in 2014.
As for later down the road, "Wish List" and "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus" are both currently pre-production, according to IMDB.
