Reese Witherspoon Attends Church With Family After Car Accident
Reese Witherspoon was spotted going to her local church in Santa Monica on Sunday with her family, just weeks after being seriously injured when she was hit by a car.
Witherspoon was walking hand-in-hand with her new husband Jim Toth and son Deacon Phillippe. The 35-year-old actress was wearing a black tiered skirt and black top. She had her eyes covered with sunglasses to cover the bruise from a car accident on September 7.
The actress was hit by an 84-year-old woman as she jogged across a pedestrian crossing. She “suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for medical treatment,” according to Santa Monica Police spokesman Sgt. Richard Lewis, as quoted by NBC LA.
According to reports, the 84-year-old woman was driving at 20mph and was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian. She was released.
Witherspoon spoke about her divorce from actor Ryan Phillippe in an interview in Marie Claire’s October issue. She also discussed her March marriage to Hollywood agent Jim Toth.
“I was hard on myself when I got divorced. And until I got remarried, I don’t think I realized how stressed I was,” Witherspoon said. “I don’t think I recognized how anxious I was about being a single parent.”
Witherspoon became anxious after the divorce when a close confidant told her no man would accept her two children, with ex-husband Phillippe.
“You know, somebody close to me once said, ‘Oh, no man will ever accept your children.’ And I just thought it was the most horrifying thing someone has ever said to me in my entire life,” Witherspoon said.
“I was determined to find somebody who would make that not true. And I got lucky. I did. I got very lucky, and he’s wonderful. And so wonderful with the children. I'm very blessed.”
Witherspoon won an Oscar in 2006 for her portrayal of June Carter in the 2005 film “Walk the Line.” She recently became the spokeswoman for the European fashion label Lindex.
