Rhea Perlman, Danny DeVito Split After 30 Years of Marriage
Stars Rhea Perlman and Danny DeVito have confirmed that they are separating after 30 years of marriage. The couple has not revealed the cause for the split but share three grown children: Lucy, Grace, and Jacob.
DeVito and Perlman have had a long career in the entertainment industry, including several hits that featured them working together. Both starred on "Taxi" for five years before Perlman moved on and found great success playing the feisty, unabashed Carla Tortelli on "Cheers."
Perlman continued to play Tortelli on four other shows, including "The Simpsons," "Frasier," "St. Elsewhere," and "The Tortellis." She starred with DeVito in the hit film "Matilda," which helped introduce the world to Mara Wilson.
DeVito, of course, went on to star on a wide variety of TV series, including "Saturday Night Live" as well as hit movies such as "Ruthless People," "Batman Returns," and "Men in Black." DeVito has been a regular on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" since 2006.
DeVito and Perlman have had one of the longest-lasting marriages in Hollywood, although they may have been seen as a rather odd couple, given their personalities and appearances. But they're not alone in the "'til death do us part" club. Several other celebrity couples have survived all sorts of rumors in order to keep their marriages going.
Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne may be one of the strangest couples in Hollywood, but whatever they do works for them. They have been married for 29 years and have three children together, in addition to successful careers together and apart.
After an unflattering first opinion, Kyra Sedgwick changed her mind and gave Kevin Bacon a chance. The two have been together for the past 23 years and have been very vocal about the happiness they share in their marriage.
The news of a DeVito-Perlman split has caught nearly everyone off guard, including the couple's former co-star John Ratzenberger; he told TMZ the news was "sad."
