The pop singer even defended him and said she enjoyed his music.

"I really like the music he's putting out. I'm a fan of his stuff. I've always been a fan,” Rihanna said. “Obviously, I had some resentment toward him for a while, for obvious reasons. But I've put that behind me."

Rihanna goes on to tell the magazine that hating Brown was "taking up too much" of her time.

The incident, which happened hours prior to the 2009 Grammys, caused Rihanna to cancel her show performance.

Brown was later arrested on criminal suspicion and charged with assault and making criminal threats.

The Barbados born singer was discovered by Jay-Z when she was 16-years-old, following her Def Jam Records audition.

Rihanna’s first album, Music of the Sun, dropped in 2005 and featured Barbados anthem "Pon de Replay." Not even a year later she released A Girl Like Me that had "SOS" and "Unfaithful" – her first big hits, which landed her on the Hot 100 and charting on Billboard.

In 2007 Rihanna changed her good girl image and released an album reflecting that called, Good Girl Gone Bad.

Her image and music became much more sexualized and rebellious. The album became a smash hit that launched Rihanna to the top of the music charts, which she hasn't left since.

The huge singles on this album were, "Umbrella," "Shut up and Drive," and "Don't Stop the Music."

In 2009 amidst her abuse case with Brown, Rihanna managed to maintain music momentum and released Rated R her fourth album. Major singles included "Hard" and "Rude Boy."

Loud was released in 2010 featuring "What's My Name?" and "Only Girl in the World" as the top singles.

In 2011 Rihanna will be releasing her sixth album Talk that Talk on Nov. 21.
