Rihanna Lipstick Gives Fan Herpes? Consumer Filing Lawsuit Against MAC Cosmetics
Rihanna's M.A.C. lipstick is being accused of giving one woman herpes, and now the makeup wearer is reportedly ready to take legal action.
Rihanna, the 25-year-old Barbadian pop star, signed on to become a creative partner with M.A.C. cosmetics earlier this year to launch RiRi Hearts MAC which will feature four limited edition color collections in 2013, WWD.com previously reported. However, the singer's first release called RiRi Woo is now being accused of causing one woman to contract Herpes, a viral disease affecting the skin.
Starkeema Greenidge of New York City is ready to sue M.A.C. after she claims that a representative from the makeup line gave her samples of the RiRi Woo lipstick at Rihanna's recent concert at Barclay Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Greenidge told TMZ that other concertgoers also applied the lipstick which allegedly left irritated lips that a doctor later diagnosed as herpes.
"My whole lip was irritated and hugely swollen," Greenidge said, according to TMZ.
Greenidge is looking to sue M.A.C. cosmetics for unspecified damages, claiming that the company's representative applied lipstick directly out of a tube on concert goers' lips instead of with individual applicators or by using disposable samples.
Although Rihanna has yet to comment on the matter, she has expressed excitement about her partnership with M.A.C. in the past.
"I really got to play. There's so much to choose from, and you can mix different textures with different colors and different greens in different eye shadows," the singer previously said about her experience in helping to develop the M.A.C. products, WWD.com reports. "I learned so much about the detail of makeup and what makes things look different. What makes it apply different is really important. Every little detail is important."
