The British actor, 27, is currently in Toronto filming scenes for "Life" which chronicles Magnum photographer Dennis Stock's real life friendship with legendary actor James Dean. On Wednesday a clean-shaven Pattinson was photographed sporting a light black hairdo with a slicked side part whilst getting into character and puffing on a cigarette in between takes, according to Celebuzz.com.
Fans took to social networking sites to share mixed reactions to the "Twilight" actor's new look. While many applauded his "conservative" appearance, others urged him not to make it permanent.
Pattinson has been jet-setting around the globe for various work projects in recent months and insiders claim he recently invited his ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart to visit him on the set of his new movie. The actress, who split from the actor last year, is said to be caring for rescue dogs they once owned together and Pattinson is missing the pets.
"Rob has been in Toronto for the last week prepping for Life, which begins filming [Feb. 18]; he really misses Bear and Bernie and has talked to Kristen about coming out with the dogs for some time," a friend of Pattinson told HollywoodLife.com.
"It kind of depends on Kristen's schedule, but they both love Canada," the source continued. "Canada is where they spent some of their happiest days when they were working on Twilight."
While "Twilight" fans continue to hold out for a reconciliation between the pair, insiders maintain that Pattinson and Stewart, 23, are just friends at this point and that neither has intention of getting back together.
In 2012, Pattinson was left heartbroken after the "Camp X Ray" star admitted to cheating with a married man and while they were able to mend their relationship, they eventually parted ways again in May due to trust issues stemming from the affair.
