Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart Relationship Was All 'Business' to Promote 'Twilight?'

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's relationship continues to draw widespread interest almost one year after it officially ended, however, a new report claims their union was only ever for show.

The pair rose to global stardom in 2008 following their respective breakout roles as Edward Cullen and Isabella Swan in the film adaptations of the "Twilight" novels and it was during that same year that they began what appeared to be a romantic relationship. Pattinson and Stewart's decision to continue their romance off-screen delighted fans around the world and ultimately boosted publicity for the popular film as well as follow-up films and one report suggests this was all a strategic ploy and that the relationship was all business.

"Their relationship was always a business and a spiritual partnership more than a romantic one," one insider told RadarOnline.com. "Rob and Kristen often said they might never see each other again after the last Twilight press tour and that's pretty much what happened."

For years the British actor, 27, and the "Clouds Of Sils Maria" actress, 24, have made headlines due to reports surrounding their relationship - which came to an abrupt end last year. In 2012, Stewart admitted to cheating on Pattinson with her then-married "Snow White & The Huntsman" film director Rupert Sanders, 41, and while the actor appeared to be genuinely heartbroken, a source claims they actually had an open relationship.

"They had an open relationship and it's amazing that Kristen hasn't revealed this info when she was being painted as a 'jezebel,'" one source said. "It was the strangest relationship."

After photos of Stewart's tryst with Sanders surfaced online the actress issued a public statement to Pattinson. While they reconciled after a brief split in the wake of the scandal, they eventually parted ways in May 2013.

"I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry," Stewart said in a statement obtained by People magazine.

In February the Hollywood actress revealed that she had no regrets about her actions and even invited haters to "judge away."

"I stand by every mistake I've ever made," Stewart told Marie Claire magazine. "So judge away."
